Mari graduated from the University of Southampton Medical School in 2002. After initially pursing a career in hospital medicine, obtaining MRCP in 2006, she found her husbands enthusiasm for general practice contagious and became a GP, gaining MRCGP in 2009. Mari considers herself to be be incredibly privileged to have trained and still work in the same practice in The New Forest, for the last 13 years. Since gaining a Diploma in Family Planning and Reproductive Health in 2008, Mari has been providing contraceptive services for her patients, regularly fitting coils and implants. This has naturally led to helping women by providing both contraceptive and menopausal support. After attending a BMS education event several years ago, she has long been proactive in the care of peri-menopausal and menopausal women.
Mari is passionate about trying to improve women's health in general, by being enthusiastic and empowering them to make positive lifestyle choices. Having had a close family member, undergo a premature menopause, she has seen on a personal level the impact and long term consequences of female hormonal management. Having listened to women's experiences, she has realised that this isn’t an area always managed as well as it could be. She is incredibly excited, to try and play a bigger role in trying to improve this.
Mari is grateful to live in the countryside, with her husband, three children and collection of animals! She loves ‘being on the water’ with her family and is obsessed with trying to get better at skiing and concentrating during yoga sessions!
