Melanie graduated from The University of Birmingham Medical School in 1998 (MBChB) and considered a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before embarking on her career in General Practice. She is a GP Partner in Birmingham where she has worked since obtaining Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2003, and was proud to be nominated and awarded Fellowship of The College (FRCGP) in 2018.

She has pursued her interest in women’s health throughout her career, undertaking additional post graduate training and gaining accreditation and diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology, sexual health, family planning and intrauterine contraceptive devices and implants. In addition, Melanie also has a specialist interest in diabetes and cardiovascular medicine, promoting positive lifestyle choices. She enjoys the broad scope and diversity of General Practice whilst allowing the opportunity to develop particular interests and deliver holistic care. She strongly believes that all women should have access to clear, evidence-based information and be supported to enable them to make informed individualised choices.

Melanie has two teenage children and an energetic Golden Retriever. She enjoys dog walking in the local countryside, swimming and tennis. Above all, she loves spending time with her family and friends sharing good food, chat and laughter.
