Newson Clinic is pleased to offer hormone coil fitting, including the Mirena, Kyleena, Jaydess as well as copper coils. Coils can be used as a long-acting contraceptive, while the Mirena coil is also licensed for the progestogen part of hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
What types of coils does Newson Clinic offer?
We offer the following at our flagship Stratford-upon-Avon clinic:
Mirena, Kyleena and Jaydess coils are known as intrauterine system (IUS) or hormone coils. All types of hormonal coil contain a form of progestogen. The Mirena coil is licensed as a contraceptive and for the progestogen part of HRT, while Kyleena and Jaydess are licensed for contraceptive use only. You can read more about hormone coils here.
An intrauterine device (IUD), also called a copper coil, is a small plastic T-shape device used for contraception. Hormone-free, the copper coil prevents pregnancy by releasing copper into the womb. You can read more about copper coils here.
