Should GPs prescribe HRT or antidepressants as the first-line treatment for perimenopausal women?

Perimenopausal women have an increased risk of developing new and recurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, low mood and depressive symptoms. GPs frequently prescribe antidepressants as the first-line treatment, but should it be HRT?
