GlycanAge Menopause Study

A woman's biological age can increase by up to 30% during the perimenopausal period.

GlycanAge Menopause Study

Did you know that your biological age can increase by up to 30% during the perimenopausal period? With the potential for your body to age significantly during this time of your life, and therefore be less protected from inflammation after the menopause, this can have a serious
impact on your health and immune system long-term.

As we age, the balance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory networks in our body changes - various inflammatory effectors provoke an imbalance between the two and lead to low-grade systematic inflammation, which can speed up the process of ageing and lead to many
diseases. The most pronounced age associations in glycans attached to IgG proteins in women occur between the ages of 45 and 55 when the majority of women enter peri-menopause and menopause.

THE SCIENCE

Most proteins in our body are covered by sugar molecules, called glycans, which attach to them resembling branches of a tree. This highly complex process is called glycosylation.

Glycans make a big difference to our unique biology and are regulated almost equally by our genes on one side and environment and Lifestyle choices on another.

GlycanAge is the first commercial, glycan-based, biological age test that determines your biological age essentially by Looking at the state of your immune system and inflammation.

We analyse the glycans attached to the most common antibody in our blood called lmmunoglobulin G or lgG. The type of glycans attached to it are able to change the function of lgG from pro-inflammatory to anti-inflammatory and vice versa.

We need both functions for a strong immune system, but the balance between them will determine our general health status and consequentially our biological age.

THE STUDY

We're looking for individuals who would be interested in taking part in a six-month-long study to analyse the impact of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in collaboration with GlycanAge, the first commercial based biological age test that determines your biological age essentially by looking at the state of your immune system and inflammation.

CLICK TO JOIN

In order to join the study, you would need to receive HRT through Newson Health and conduct three GlycanAge tests - at the beginning of the study, three and six months later.*

We take personal information very seriously. Your data and sample along with the data and samples of other clients participating in this research enables GlycanAge Ltd to conduct further research in perimenopausal and menopausal women in relation to their biological age and
publish scientific research papers related to it. GlycanAge Ltd’s commercial partners may be provided with access to research data in GlycanAge Ltd’s possession for those purposes, but not your personal identification data.

*The first 30 women who sign up for the study, will receive all three tests for free. After that, the cost of all three tests will be offered for the price of one test (£279).

NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE STUDY BUT STILL WANT TO GET TESTED?

Our studies show that the most pronounced age associations in glycans attached to lgG proteins in women occur between the ages of 45 and 55 when the majority of women enter perimenopause and menopause.

If you're not eligible for our study, but would still like to discover your biological age and see how taking hormone replacement therapy can reverse the process of ageing and improve the state of your immune system, simply follow the link below for 15% off your first order.* GlycanAge will donate a further 15% to The Menopause Charity for every order placed.
