Claire O’Donnell

RGN

Nurse and Menopause Specialist

Claire qualified as a Registered Nurse 32 years ago and spent the first 10 years of her career working in Emergency Medicine.

She moved into General Practice in 1999 and became a Practice Nurse, completing various clinical training courses and developed a special interest in Respiratory Medicine and Women’s Health.

Becoming an Independent Nurse Prescriber 10 years ago was a pivotal moment in her career as it has enabled her to work much more autonomously. After completing an initial training course on The Foundations of Menopause care she set up a small menopause clinic within my General Practice surgery. Claire experienced first hand affect that hormones (or lack of) have on a woman’s ability to function, on relationships, sleep pattern, ability to think straight and just on their overall health and wellbeing.

More recently she completed The Confidence in the Menopause course which has made me even more passionate about and often overlooked area of medicine, enabling and empowering women to understand their own bodies. Claire finds it incredibly rewarding to enable women to feel like themselves again by ‘giving them back their hormones’.

On a personal note, I have three grown up children and a Grandaughter. I love baking bread and making cakes, playing tennis and walking my two dogs.
