Dr Lydia Robertson
MBChB, PMETB GP, Dip Nutritional Medicine.
GP and Menopause Specialist
Lydia graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2002 and qualified as a GP in Manchester in 2006. Her lifelong interest in Family Medicine and Preventative Health have shaped her career.
She practised as a GP in the South of France for five years, where she developed an interest in Nutrition and Women’s Health. The French way of life and healthcare system highlighted the importance of good holistic care throughout a woman’s life, and it was here that her passion for Lifestyle Medicine and Menopause began to grow. She completed a Diploma in Medical Nutrition at the University of Montpellier Medical school to broaden her knowledge in this area.
Since her return to the UK in 2011, Lydia has worked as a GP while developing her interest in both Menopause and Lifestyle Medicine. She is a member of the British Menopause Society and is in the process of completing a diploma in Lifestyle Medicine. She believes passionately that the right, evidence-based menopause care combined with good lifestyle advice can transform women’s lives and optimise their health and wellbeing. With women’s life expectancy extending well beyond their menopausal years, the importance of good symptom control and disease prevention is crucial. She believes that empowering women with information is key so that they can make informed decisions and take control of their health, so improving their quality of life. Support and a compassionate ear are often needed as part of the path to better health and Lydia feels privileged to be able to accompany women on this journey.
Lydia juggles work with three school-aged children. She enjoys living in the countryside and spending time with friends and family. She is keen on Yoga and running and loves nurturing her gut microbiome! (and boring her children about it!)
