GP and Menopause Specialist
Sashini is an experienced GP with a career long interest in women’s health; after graduating from UCL medical school in 2000, Sashini completed her GP training in Kent. She continued to work there as a GP whilst growing her family. Sashini pursued her interest in Women and Children’s Health by working towards post graduate diplomas from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health in addition to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
A work opportunity for her husband took the family to Dubai where she continued her medical practice as a Family Medicine Specialist. During this time she developed an interest in Lifestyle Medicine and feels that the importance of this preventative aspect of medicine was highlighted by observing the epidemiology of health during the pandemic.
Sashini’s interest in menopausal health stemmed from a webinar by a local practitioner who suggested that the menopause should be actively managed. This, together with herself and friends reaching an age where they can truly empathise with the varied physical and mental symptoms which perimenopause can bring, led her to focus on the holistic approach to managing this stage in women’s health. After recently completing her Diploma in Occupational Medicine, she is particularly keen to educate and advise workplaces in how best they can accommodate women undergoing challenges due to the peri/menopause. Having followed the expertise of Louise Newson to help her patients even before she knew of Newson Health as an entity, Sashini is excited to be joining the team and being available to a wider network of women, near and far.
Sashini lives in Sevenoaks and is mother to three teenage children. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys traveling, cross fit, socialising and working on her home and garden.
