Pharmacist with an interest in menopause
Rebecca is a Clinical Pharmacist with specialist interests in both Menopause and Lifestyle Medicine. She completed her pharmacy degree in the beautiful city of Bath, did her training in her home country of Wales then moved to Scotland in 2001 to join her husband who had bought his first Pharmacy at Stirling University. She has 22 years of varied Hospital and Community Pharmacy experience in Forth Valley.
Rebecca has always been passionate about helping patients support themselves with as much information about their health as possible. Her enthusiasm to share knowledge meant her friends got good advice for minor ailments and medicines but when it came to HRT questions she became stuck. Curious to learn more she contacted Louise for good training material, she completed the Confidence in Menopause course followed by the BMS Practice and Principles in Menopause Theory. Keen to maintain a holistic approach she also completed the RCGP accredited Prescribing in Lifestyle Medicine course and then reviewed the online version for Clinical Education. Rebecca is a Member of the British Menopause Society and The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
She was delighted to hear from Louise to come and work with Newson Health. Her other work involves raising awareness of menopause education within the family business Right Medicine Pharmacy and amongst her pharmacist colleagues so they can support patients and medical colleagues with accurate evidence based information. She has provided menopause education to University of Strathclyde undergraduates and the Female Pharmacy Leaders Network.
Outside of work she loves hanging out with her teenagers (feelings not reciprocated!) and husband. When they are all busy she loves a good outdoor ‘walk’n’talk’ with one of her girlfriends. On days off Pilates and Yoga are her go to for strength and stretching, especially useful after her other hobby gardening. She has recently returned to piano lessons after a break of 30 years…her family report this is still a work in progress!
