Where Newson Clinic’s profits go: work we’re proud to make possible
Your steps to a happier, healthier you

Here at Newson Clinic, we understand that hormonal health in women encompasses the balance and function of various hormones, particularly oestrogen and progesterone, which influence reproductive health, mood, metabolism, and overall well-being. Fluctuations and imbalances can lead to a range of symptoms and affect various life stages, including menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. We have been providing support and advice to our patients using evidence-based research to enrich their lives at every stage.

Those conversations shape how we treat our patients, the research we fund and the knowledge we share.

When you book an appointment at Newson Clinic, not only are you helping yourself, but you're also helping us improve women's hormone health beyond the clinic. We reinvest clinic profits into patient services, research, clinician education, free resources and projects reaching women in communities around the world.

We’re proud of this work and the people behind it. Here’s what your trust helps make possible.

It starts with listening to you

“It was so reassuring to be finally listened to by a doctor who is understanding and has empathy. My clinician explained the options in detail, how everything works and worked out a plan for me moving forward. I really wished I’d come to the Newson clinic sooner!” – Newson Clinic patient

We want every woman who comes to us to have that opportunity.

That means listening to feedback as carefully as we listen during appointments. We routinely ask about your experience and discuss what you tell us in regular meetings, alongside patient outcomes and emerging evidence. Your words help us see what’s working well and what needs more attention.

Our approach to hormone treatment considers current and future health, with time to discuss your options and what matters to you.

This commitment was recognised in our CQC assessment, published in February 2026, which rated Newson Clinic Outstanding overall. Inspectors found that our team listened to patients, understood their needs and wishes, and supported them to make informed decisions about treatment.

Supporting the people you put your trust in

When you come to us with questions about your health, you place a great deal of trust in your clinician. Our profits help us invest in their training, development and the support around them.

Our clinical team receives structured induction, mentoring, supervision and continued professional development. Clinicians discuss complex cases through peer review, sharing knowledge and considering the best way forward.

We’ve also created the CPD-accredited Confidence in Hormones course for our doctors and regularly invite external specialists to share their expertise.

Through Newson Education, we extend this learning to GPs and other healthcare professionals worldwide, including NHS GPs in the UK. This helps more clinicians recognise hormonal symptoms and discuss treatment options with women.

Making women’s experiences count

So much of our research begins with something our patients have told us: a symptom affecting their work, a frightening change in mood or treatment that isn’t helping as much as they’d hoped.

There are still substantial gaps in research into women’s hormones. Reinvesting our profits into Newson Research helps us explore these experiences and ask questions that need answers.

Using anonymised patient-led data, our team has published over 20 peer reviewed papers on mental health, suicide risk, estradiol absorption, testosterone, surgical menopause and the effect of hormonal symptoms on women’s working lives.

What you share can contribute to evidence that helps clinicians understand more and informs future research.

Supporting suicide prevention research

Newson Clinic has also funded a three-year PhD studentship at Liverpool John Moores University to research suicide prevention.

Many women report severe psychological symptoms during hormonal change. Further research can help improve understanding of these connections and bring hormones into wider conversations about mental health.

This work reflects what we hear in appointments and our commitment to understanding experiences that can have a profound effect on women’s lives.

Being there for women beyond appointments

A woman looking for answers may never become a Newson Clinic patient. We still want her to have access to reliable information.

Our profits help fund the free Balance app and the Dr Louise Newson Podcast. Articles, podcasts, videos, webinars and educational materials share knowledge from research and clinical experience with people worldwide.

We’ve also worked with the United Nations Population Fund to create ten co-branded articles for the Balance app.

Someone using these resources might be reading about a symptom she hasn’t felt able to mention, trying to understand her treatment or preparing to speak to a clinician.

We want more women to feel informed, comfortable asking questions and less alone.

Reaching women whose voices need to be heard

Information doesn’t reach every woman equally. Some face additional barriers to finding resources that reflect their health, background or circumstances.

Working with charities and community organisations helps us understand these needs. Our projects include:

  • Creating information about HIV and menopause with Sophia Forum
  • Working with Lancashire Women, which supports women facing disadvantage
  • Delivering presentations and teaching sessions in five prisons
  • Producing information for women with ovarian cancer with Ovacome
  • Creating accessible resources with Dimensions for women with learning disabilities
  • Delivering a webinar for Fibromyalgia UK
  • Providing teaching sessions for NHS organisations
  • Working with local communities around female genital mutilation and menopause

These partnerships give us opportunities to learn from women whose experiences may be different from those we hear in appointments.

We’ve also funded a urologist to complete her training in Uganda.

Thank you for helping us do more

None of this happens without our patients, our team and the organisations working alongside us.

If you’ve trusted us with an appointment, shared your experience or given feedback, thank you. You help us improve what we do, and your support helps this work reach further.

There are still questions to answer and women we want to reach. Reinvesting our profits allows us to keep listening, learning and doing more.
