GP and Menopause Specialist
Heather graduated from Leeds School of Medicine in 2008, and completed her GP training in the Yorkshire area, becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2013. She started work with a local GP surgery in North Yorkshire, where she has remained for the last 10 years. It was here that she developed a keen interest in Women’s Health, became a trained contraceptive coil fitter, and where her passion for quality menopause care was ignited.
She has pursued this special interest, developing experience and building knowledge within the NHS and at Newson Health to help smooth the transition of perimenopause and menopause. Heather has completed her Menopause Care Special Skills Module with Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.
Heather is passionate about improving the health and quality of life of the women she sees. She listens, and works in partnership with her patients to develop a tailored management plan to help empower them to take back control of their health and hormones. Heather also has an interest in Lifestyle Medicine and Functional Medicine, having recently completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice module via the IFM. She hopes to further her learning in this area and continue integrating the holistic approach into her care.
She is excited to be part of the team at Newson Health and to be able to help empower and guide women through their menopause journey.
In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two small children, reading and furthering her learning, and using the gym to keep fit.
You can see Heather at our Harrogate clinic for an in person appointment.
