Dr Yusianmar Borrero graduated from the School of Medicine at the Central University of Venezuela in 2004. Early in her career, she undertook six months of vocational training in rural Amazonia, delivering primary healthcare and health education to Indigenous populations in remote jungle communities. She later moved to Portugal, where she completed her training in Family Medicine and earned a postgraduate qualification in Sports Medicine at the University of Porto.

During her time in primary care, she contributed to improving access to women’s health and family planning services within her local community, helping to shape a more responsive and inclusive approach to care for women in the region. In 2015, Dr Yusianmar relocated to the UK with her family and has since been working as a GP across London and Surrey.

With a deep-rooted interest in women’s health, preventative medicine, nutrition, family planning, and addictions, she completed an PG in Women’s Health at University College London (UCL). Dr Yusianmar is a tireless advocate for women’s rights in medicine. Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, she brings a rich multicultural perspective to her clinical and advocacy work. Outside of medicine, she enjoys dancing, photography, art, and spending time with her family.

External work:

Dr Yusianmar is widely recognised as an expert in menopause and women’s health issues and has been invited to speak at several international conferences and forums on these topics. Her commitment to global health has taken her as far afield as to The Gambia in 2017, where she delivered educational talks on women’s health to local communities and nursing staff in regional hospitals.

She served as a member of the Family Violence Group of European GPs and is the co-founder of the Equally Different Group within the European Young Family Doctors Movement (EYFDM), part of the global network of family physicians. Dr Yusianmar currently serves as the European Lead of the Women Working Party on Women in Family Medicine.
