Donna Atkin

Donna qualified as a Nurse in 1999 and worked in Oncology and Palliative Care for the next 20 years. She then developed an interest in diabetes as she came across more and more diabetes related issues with patients, so she moved across into the hospital diabetes team. From there Donna moved into primary care as she wanted to be able to prevent poor control in diabetes by meeting patients at the start of their journey. As a non-medical prescriber, she is able to support them holistically to manage their diabetes well.

Donna’s interest in menopause came as she was taken completely by surprise with her own symptoms, and it took a long time for her to work out the cause. She felt she wanted to use her own experience to be able to educate other women and ensure they were able to make informed decisions. Donna has completed education courses to better her knowledge and hopes to establish excellent support for women within her practice.
