GP and Menopause Specialist

Amy graduated from the Hull York Medical School in 2008 and soon after took some time out from training to travel in Asia and South America, retaining an interest in travel and global public health ever since. She returned to junior doctor then GP training, qualifying as a GP in 2017 in Stockport.

Through both general practice and personal experience during pregnancy and postnatally, Amy developed an interest in how hormones affect physical and mental health, as well an interest in evidence-based lifestyle and diet optimisation and how this can support wellbeing.

This naturally progressed to an interest in the perimenopause and menopause, and a keen desire to empower women to understand their function and symptoms in the context of hormonal health. The opportunity to have more time to work with patients than can be made available in NHS general practice is one of the reasons she is excited to join Newson Health.

Amy lives and works in South Manchester as a GP, and considers her career a privilege and a wonderful opportunity to inform and help as well as to constantly learn through meeting so many different people and encountering so many individual health experiences day to day.

Outside of work, two young children and a cockapoo keep her busy and entertained. She particularly enjoys hill walking, gardening, family camping holidays in the beautiful UK countryside and spending time with family and friends.
