GP and Menopause Specialist

Catherine has had a keen interest in Women’s Health since training as a GP. She gained MRCGP, DRCOG and CertFFP (now DFSRH) in 1986 and now has over 35 years of experience as a GP and sexual health specialist.

As a GP Catherine has cared for many women during the perimenopause and menopause. She understands the impact this can have on their lives and how it can be dramatically improved with HRT and individualised holistic care. As a sexual health doctor Catherine specialised in managing genital symptoms, infections, contraception and hormone related matters including the menopause and perimenopause. She finds enabling patients to understand and manage the symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause, be they physical, psychological or emotional, extremely rewarding. She is passionate about empowering women to understand and manage their symptoms and prevent future health problems thus enabling them to live their best lives.

Having also worked in Public Health, Catherine recognises the impact that the menopause and perimenopause can have on women in the workplace. She is keen to improve knowledge and education about the menopause in society and encourage more research in this field.

Catherine is married with 3 grown up children and a very excitable cockerpoo. She enjoys the outdoors particularly walking in the Yorkshire Dales where she lives, and in Northumberland. She also enjoys travelling, skiing, visiting the theatre and spending time with family and friends.
