GP and Menopause Specialist

Helen graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1993, and was keen to progress in the area of women’s health from the outset, quickly gaining diplomas from both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and the faculty of Family Planning and Sexual Health (DFFP with competence in fitting contraceptive implants).

With a strong belief in the benefits of holistic care, general practice seemed a natural home for her, where she could combine her interests in psychological well-being, physical illness, disease prevention, diet, exercise and lifestyle. She also took up an additional position as a clinical assistant in psychiatry, before scaling back her workload, to spend more time supporting her young family.

Helen has been a GP at a practice in the Stratford area for 21 years, and has developed a keen interest in women’s health, particularly during the middle of their lives. She has come to see the importance of a dynamic approach to the physical, emotional and sexual aspects of menopause. Through collaboration and evidence based decision making, she enjoys helping women meet their full potential. She is thrilled to be able to help, at this crucial stage in their lives, through her work at Newson Health.

Helen has two grown up sons, and her hobbies include litter picking (yes really!), running with her springer spaniel and being chased by her chickens. She continues to enjoy her role in General Practice.
