Dr Helen Winpenny

GP and Menopause Specialist

Helen always wanted to be a GP, and qualified from St George’s in London with a distinction in medicine before training as a GP in South London, completing this 24 years ago! Her main clinical interests have always been in women’s health. Helen worked for several years as a clinical lecturer in General Practice in London before relocating to Oxfordshire where she has worked as a GP ever since. She also wrote a weekly doctor’s column for ‘Woman’s Own’ magazine for 5 years whilst her children were young.

Helen is passionate about improving women’s health at all stages of their lives, and is especially interested in the menopause and family planning, and in promoting  healthy lifestyle measures. She is committed to empowering women to help them make informed decisions about their healthcare.

She  is a keen advocate for the benefits of exercise on physical as well as mental health and is a regular runner and open water swimmer.

She has two children at secondary school and in her spare time (when not exercising!) enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and learning to speak Italian.
