GP and Menopause Specialist

Kathryn graduated from Birmingham University Medical School in 1998.  On qualifying as a GP, passing her MRCGP with distinction in 2005, Kathryn began to develop a special interest in women’s health. Having completed her DFFP in 2005, Kathryn trained as a fitter for contraceptive implants and coils.

She uses her vast experience as a practising frontline senior GP to enable her to adopt a holistic approach to menopause care. Through her work delivering educational webinars for both patients and fellow clinicians, Kathryn finds empowering and supporting women to gain the correct menopause health care they require incredibly rewarding.

Kathryn is a member of the British Menopause Society and in addition to Dr Newson’s Confidence in Menopause course, she has also completed the Primary Care Women’s Health Forum Menopause Special Skills training.

In addition to her clinical role, Kathryn also works as Director of Primary Care at Yeovil District Hospital, supporting better collaboration between primary and secondary care, including in the field of women’s health.

As a working mum, Kathryn recognises the importance of maintaining her own resilience and wellbeing. She de-stresses by playing the saxophone, baking and circuit training, although not at the same time!
