GP and Menopause Specialist

Born and raised in West Yorkshire, Louise crossed the Pennines to study Medicine at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 1997. She enjoyed helping patients at all stages of life and for this reason was drawn to General Practice.

Louise trained as a GP in Southport during which time she also attained the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the Royal College of Paediatrics, the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG) and the Diploma of the Faculty of Family Planning (DFFP). She has been a practicing NHS GP with an interest in Women’s Health for 20 years. Prior to becoming a mum for the first time in 2004 she also worked as an NHS doctor in Genito-Urinary Medicine.

During her time in practice Louise has observed shifting attitudes towards the use of HRT and Menopause care. She endeavours to keep up to date and provide her patients with balanced, evidenced-based advice to help them make choices to best take care of their current and future health. Her interest in post-reproductive healthcare has been recently heightened due to friends, colleagues and personal experience. She is keen to take time to learn about her patients’ individual circumstances and concerns. Sensible and caring, she is motivated to empower peri-menopausal and menopausal ladies to seek and understand all the information they need.

Outside medicine Louise is a keen yogi. Having first experienced the benefits of yoga as a pregnant first-time mum, she has continued to include frequent yoga practice in her busy life. She is married with 3 sons and also enjoys cardio and resistance classes at the local gym and walking; ideally with friends in the sunshine!
