Dr Sian Thompson
MBChB, DRCOG, MRCGP
GP and Menopause Specialist
Sian qualified from Leeds University in 2001, initially training to be a surgeon before deciding that a career in GP would be a better fit. She continues to enjoy the variety of challenges in General Practice and performs minor surgery as part of her special interests. She is also interested in medical education, teaching junior doctors and medical students and was a Clinical Fellow at Warwick University before relocating to Hertfordshire after starting her family.
Her other interest is Women’s Health and the menopause. Over the years, she has sought to provide women with evidence-based medicine, ensuring they make the best choices for them as an individual. Sian’s interest in menopause has further increased in recent years as friends and family members started to experience the vast array of symptoms it can bring. She is keen to educate and support women during their menopause journey. Sian is passionate about challenging negative myths that persist about HRT among the general public and health professionals alike. She finds helping women improve their menopausal symptoms one of the most rewarding parts of her job.
Sian is married with 2 young daughters. She loves to exercise and enjoys swimming, cycling, running and attending the gym.
